Mary Harris
(2007 Sandhills Writers Conference First Price Winner - Poetry)


Mary Hutchins Harris is a writer of poetry and essays. She is a member of the Poetry Society of South Carolina and lives in Summerville, South Carolina. She has been a featured Poet for the Piccolo Spoleto Sundown Series and this past summer was a featured poet for the Piccolo Spoleto Stories for Life Festival. Last March she was chosen by Lola Haskins for the First Place Award in Poetry at the Sandhills Writers Conference.She has been published in Tar River Poetry, Antietam Review and other literary print and on-line publications. Recently she won the Carrie Allen McCray First Place Award for Poetry and tied for First Place in Non-Fiction at the South Carolina Writer's Workshop Conference. In October her chapbook, 'A Tongue Full of Yeses' was selected for publication in the 2007 South Carolina Poetry Initiative/USC Press Chapbook Contest.
