The Sandhills Writers Conference is not just a Southern thing
anymore, but a gathering of authors, agents, editors and songwriters
with diverse perspectives and cultural backgrounds from all
over the country. Started in 1975, the Sandhills Writers Conference
is hosted each spring in Augusta, Georgia, by Augusta State
University. Today the conference is considered the Southeast's
most prestigious conference for writers of fiction, poetry,
non-fiction, and children's literature.
The Sandhills Writers
Conference is open to all persons interested in writing.
Activities include talks on the writer's craft, advice from
regional and national editors and agents, and manuscript
consultations. Prizes in the various writing genres are awarded.
The 2010 conference is scheduled for March 18-20 with the Keynote address to be given by American Book Award winner, Kimiko Hahn.
Award-winning poet Anthony Kellman, Professor of
Creative Writing in the Department of Communications and
Professional Writing at ASU, is director of the Sandhills
Writers Conference. |
